Electric HR gets good people good jobs and gets jobs filled! We are the only niche recruitment company for the electric industry staffed by experienced electrical engineers and seasoned recruiters. Based on our comprehensive background, we offer more than just recruiting services: we are able to have deep technical conversations with hiring managers to properly understand the skill sets they’re looking for. Whether you are looking to fill your power system engineer opening or looking for an experienced communication engineer or a field technician, we are able to help you find the right talent.

Meet Our Team
Founder

Warren Shapiro is the driving force behind ElectricHR, and he has dedicated 30+ years to helping and connecting people in the staffing industry. 

In 1990, Warren moved to Toronto to work for a recruiter. Once there, he developed a passion for the way great recruiters were able to alleviate the stress of employers and candidates when navigating the complex hiring process. He spent the next few decades in multiple HR and recruiting roles for large staffing firms, and went on to build the life sciences division of a global recruiting agency, growing it into one of their most profitable business units.

In 2018 Warren founded Red Rover Recruitment, a consulting company that supports diversity and inclusion. Red Rover works to solve systemic hiring problems through innovative and unique solutions, and brings equal opportunities to government, schools, organizations, and community groups. While working with a global company that supported the power industry, Warren recognized that the electrical industry was not being served with recruiters who focused on equal opportunity and inclusion. In 2021, he founded ElectricHR to help make the industry accessible for everyone to participate in. His undeniable dedication to connecting people, supporting diversity and inclusion, and his specialized knowledge in the electrical engineering field is unmatched.

In his free time, Warren loves spending time with his wife Cheryl, his kids and his dogs, or in his backyard working towards his quest of becoming a top BBQ pitmaster.

Ahmad Olia is not your typical electrical engineer. He loves interacting with people, and at ElectricHR he gets to interact with great people while applying his deep understanding of the electric industry. 

Ahmad grew up in Iran, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. In 2016, he was awarded a Master’s Graduate Scholarship from York University and moved to Canada to pursue his Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power Systems Protection. 

As a fresh graduate, he found a lack of support for helping new grads find jobs in the field. On top of that, he was approached by multiple recruiters with job offers that were unrelated to his studies and experiences simply because he appeared in their keyword search results. 

In 2019, Warren was recruiting for a job and Ahmad was one of the finalists. When Ahmad didn’t land the job, Warren offered him a chance at recruiting for a different job opening in the electric industry. Warren was impressed with Ahmad’s deep knowledge of the industry, and trained him for the role of ElectricHR’s Electrical Engineer Recruitment Lead. Unlike many recruiters in his field, Ahmad brings his first-hand knowledge of this highly complex industry to dig deep, and beyond a keyword search, to find the right candidate. 

In his spare time, Ahmad likes to play the violin and when the weather is nice, he enjoys camping and firing up the BBQ.

We are a member of the Magnet Network, a social innovation platform with a mission to accelerate inclusive economic growth in Canada. Magnet was co-created by Ryerson University in 2014 in partnership with the Ontario Chamber of Commerce. This network helps new graduates enter the electrical industry. We work with universities to find new talent in the industry and within government programs to onboard youth, persons with disabilities, or others with barriers to work. We are also new members of the EHRC (Electric HR Resource Canada).
